The long project we have been working with SM Entertainment has finally completed with the grand opening of SMTOWN THEATRE.

dilussion was responsible for designing and building of the theatre where guests can experience various artists of SM Entertainment through life-like hologram content. SM TOWN THEATRE is Korea’s first hologram theatre with capability of showing both hologram content and conventional concerts as well. It was a huge success. Within 8 days since the opening, two out of three shows have been completely sold out and another two shows in a month after that were all sold out. SMTOWN THEATRE for K-Pop Content Opens

On 13th at 5th floor of Seoul COEX Artium, the Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning (MSIP) announced that it opens SMTOWN THEATRE, a permanent hologram performance theatre. SMTOWN THEATRE is an comprehensive cultural space co-created by a subsidiary company of SM Entertainment Dream Maker Entertainment (investing 2.3 billion KRW) and the MSIP (investing 2 billion KRW). The 6-story building houses hologram theatre on 5th and 6th floor and various attractions including where visitors can buy various souvenirs and experience K-pop artist they fancy. Foreigners visiting Korea can enjoy the magical holographic performance and K-pop content anytime. The theatre has 45 minutes of hologram concert featuring TVXQ, Girl’s Generation, Super Junior, Shiny and EXO and School of Oz, a 110-minute of holographic musical showing three times a day for paid visitors.

The MSIP assigned four small and medium size companies (dilussion, Giant Step, Silver Fish and Screen Couples) by providing financial subsidiary to develop content and related technology required for hologram theatre. These companies will get to share profits from SMTOWN THEATRE. The MSIP plans to open more of such spaces and one of them is hologram music museum which is scheduled to open in Jeju Island sometime in this year.

K-Pop Hologram Theatre Opens in Seoul COEX

서A permanent hologram theatre is scheduled to open on 5th floor of Seoul COEX Artium. SMTOWN THEATRE which opens on 13th is a product of partnership between a subsidiary company of SM Entertainment Dream Maker Entertainment (investing 2.3 billion KRW) and the MSIP (investing 2 billion KRW). The financial aid from the Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning (the MSIP) was part of a program called “Support for Digital Content Co-Growth.” In the consortium which led by SM Entertainment were 40 Korean small and medium businesses including dilussion, Giant Step, Silver Fish and Screen Couples. The theatre which is located on the 6th floor (8,000㎡) of Seoul COEX Artium is expected to become a new hot tourist spot showing a successful mixture of Korea’s state-of-the-art technology and cultural content. The theatre has 45 minutes of hologram concert featuring TVXQ, Girl’s Generation, Super Junior, Shiny and EXO and School of Oz, a 110-minute of holographic musical showing three times a day for paid visitors.

The Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning is working on creating content using latest information and communication technologies (ICT) to pioneer various markets including China and South East Asian countries. Following the opening of KLive in January in Dondaemun, Seoul and SMTOWN THEATRE, the ministry is opening another hologram performance theatre is Jeju Island in this year. Meanwhile, the MSIP, in relation with ‘Friendship Content Project’ with China, plans to support Korean businesses in exporting content, i.e. installing hologram theatre in Chinese theme parks.
